RESOLUTION NO. 18-057
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND,
WASHINGTON, RELATED TO THE CONSTRUCTION OF A WATER LINE
EXTENSION ON WILSON STREET, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
ADVERTISE FOR BIDS AND TO AWARD A CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT TO THE
LOWEST RESPONSIVE RESPONSIBLE BIDDER FOR THE WATER LINE
EXTENSION
WHEREAS, the City has designed the water line extension on Wilson Street; and,
WHEREAS, this project is included in both the 2018 and the 2019 budget under general
water system improvements; and,
WHEREAS, City staff will evaluate the bids for compliance with the bid laws; and,
WHEREAS, based on the evaluation of the bids, staff may need the flexibility, within
the bounds of the bidding laws and the approved budget, to re -bid the contract; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council must approve any public works contract over the amount
of $65,000.00; and,
WHEREAS, if the construction bid amount exceeds the budgeted project amount, staff
will return to City Council with a proposal, for approval by the City Council, for the moving
forward with the project;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend as follows:
The City Manager is authorized to bid and award a construction contract to the lowest
responsive responsible bidder within the project budget.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend at a regular meeting
thereof, held this 3rd day of December 2018.
