FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Who will be Port Townsend’s next City Manager? We need your help!
Who is the City Manager?
After 20 years as Port Townsend ‘s first City Manager, David Timmons is retiring in June
of 2018. The City Manager, with the City Council, turns the community’s vision, as expressed in
our Comprehensive Plan, into everyday reality. The City Manager operates at the heart of
municipal government, where efficient operations touch the day-to-day lives of people in the
community. The City Manager is a passionate public servant who influences positive change in
local government. The City Manager bridges the gap between politics and administration.
This fall, the Port Townsend City Council appointed a Community Task Force to create
the City Manager profile to be used in the recruitment of our next City Manager. This group,
from across the Port Townsend community, created a survey to capture your thoughts on who
the new City Manager should be.
How can you help?
Fill out a survey that will be mailed to all City residents. Please return it by Friday,
December 14, 2018, either by mail or to a drop box at City Hall, Mt. View Commons, or the Port
Townsend Library. The survey is also available on the City’s website at Speak Up.
Attend a public conversation on the topic on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at 6:30 in
the Cotton building, 607 Water Street, Port Townsend, WA.
