Minutes of the Port Townsend Arts Commission Regular Meeting of June 6, 2018

Call to Order/Roll Call
The meeting was called to order at 3:00 p.m.
Approval of Agenda
Unanimous approval of the agenda.
Approval of Minutes:
May 2, 2018 The Commission voted 6-0, with Lisa Wentworth abstaining, to
approve the minutes of May 2, 2018.
Chair’s Update and Announcements
Chair Rowe gave an overview of the Arts Commission’s recent
presentation at a City Council workshop.
Budget Discussion
City Manager David Timmons stated that Council plans to have
the 2019 budget completed by September, so the Arts
Commission’s request should be submitted by the end of July.
Northwind Arts Center:
Michael D’Alessandro presented The Commission voted 6-0, with Dominica Lord-Wood recused,
a funding request for the PT Shorts program and explained to fund $550 for publicity and promotion.
planned changes to the program, with Northwind taking
over publicity and programming content from Key City
Public Theatre.
Public Arts Discussion:
City Manager David Timmons
explained that the City has not identified specific locations
for public art in areas such as Upper Sims Way and Rainier
Street, Downtown, and Uptown. He recommended
reconvening the Public Arts Committee to identify locations
and set criteria for public art. George Randels gave public
comment.
Public Arts Committee.
The Commission voted unanimously to approve the Chair’s
Jeannie McMacken gave public comment. appointment of Maryann Tapiro, Dan Groussman, and Lisa
Wentworth to the Public Arts Committee. Kris Morris had
previously been elected as Chair of the Public Arts Committee.
TopicMotions/Recommendation/Action
The Committee will work on designating specific areas for
public art consistent with the Art in Public Places Policy.
Review Arts Commission Enabling Resolution 01-029
The Commission generally agreed to recommend that City
and Revisions Recommended to Council.
Council make no changes to the wording of the enabling

Chair Rowe appointed Lisa Wentworth as liaison to the Creative
District effort in Port Townsend.
