Model 5495 Distributed Power Module The 5495 is a 6 amp notification power expander that provides its own AC power connection, battery charging circuit, and backup battery for use with fire and security controls such as the Silent Knight Model 5208 Fire Control /Communicator. The 5495 is the cost- effective solution for powering notification appliances required by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The 5495 has built-in ANSI cadence pattern, which can upgrade older control panels that lack cadence capability. Features. UL Listed for 6 amps of notification power . Power supply's advanced switch mode design reduces damaging heat and manages power up to 50% more efficiehtly than other systems . Built-in synchronization for appliances from System Sensor@,Gentex@, AMSECo@, Wheelock and Faraday . Stand alone operation . Lightweight design adds io ease of installation and reduces shipping costs . Operates with most polarized, UL Listed notification devices . UL 864 & 1481 listed . CSFM approved . ANSI Cadence pattern output capability built-in Connection to Local Fire Control The 5495 may be connected to a local fire control which utilizes Class A or Class B type notification circuits operating between 9 and 32 VDC. The control panel's notification circuit is connected to one of the inputs on the 5agS. the control panel's notification circuit end-of-line resistor is also connected across two terminals on the 5495, which provides supervision between the 5495 and the fire conirol panel. Polarized audible and/or visual notification devices are then connected to the 5495 signal circuits using the Model 5495 Distributed Power Module 4.7kQ end-of-line resistors provided. Since the 5495 draws very little power from the control, it is possible to connect one 5495 to each notificaiion circuit on ihe control panel and still provide full supervision of the notification circuits all the way back to the control panel. SILENT KNIGHT o by Honeywell FIRF SYSTEM ACCESSORY o ll Model 5495 Distributed Power Module Supervision The 5495 supervises a variety of functions including: . Low AC power . Low battery condition. In addition to accurately detecting a smoldering fire, each SD505-APS photoeleciric detector has a unique address, which is recognized by the lntelliKnight panel. No precious seconds are wasted in determining location of an alarm. The SD505-APS compensates automatically for contamination in the environment. And detector testing is simple-even from a remote site. Like other lntelliKnight detector models, the SD505-APS offers a low profile for pleasing aestheiics. The lntelliKnight family of deiectors has been designed to use a common base, Model SD505-6A8, allowing complete application and placement flexibility. Combine all this with the features you've come to expect from Silent Knight smoke detectors-easy installation, stable operation, RF/transient protection, and vandal-resistant locking-and it adds up to a flexible solution for all your fire protection needs. ModelSDS0S-APS Analog / Addressable Photoelectric Type Smoke Detector The SD505-APS is particularly suited to detecting dense smoke typical of fires involving materials such as soft furnishings, plastic, foam or other similar materials which tend to smolder and produce large visible particles. The detector features automatic compensation for contamination and a simple detector calibration test procedure that can be run from the panelor remotely (using the WindowsrM based downloading software). Operation The SD505-APS units made up of an LED light source and a silicon photo diode receiving element. ln a normal standby condition, the receiving element receives no light from the pulsing light source. ln the event or fire, smoke enters the detector and light is reflected from the smoke particles to the receiving element. The light received is converted into an electronic signal. Under normal conditions, the status LED blinks approximately every 15 seconds, indicating that the head is communicating with the loop. The LED lights continuously during the alarm period. Features. Low profile, 2 inches, including base. Simple and reliable addressing without mechanical switches. Charge until battery voltage (under charge) reaches 14.40 to 14.70 volis at 680F (20oC). Hold at14.40to14.70 volts until cunentdrops to approximately 120mA. Baftery is fully charged under these conditions, and charger should either be disconnected orswitched to "float" voltage. "Float" or "Stand-By" Service: Hold battery across constant voltage source of 1 3.50 to 13.80 volts continuously. When held at this voltage, the battery will seek its own current level and maintain itself in a fully charged condition. NOTE: Due to the self-discharge characteristics of this type of batiery it is imperative thatthey be charged after 6-9 monihs of storage, otherwise permanent loss of capacity might occur as a result of sulfation.FgffiWffi SALES & MARKETING 3106 Spring Street Redwood City, CA 94063 USA Tel: 650-364-5001 Fax: 650-366-3662 n ati o n a I -sa I es@ powe r-so n i c. com Discharge Characteristics Ambient Temperature 20"C {68"F \A 6A 2.44 Final Voltage 1" t4A 't.2 2.4 6 12 24 36481 2 4 6 810 20 40 min.-*-- hrs.
