Also reier to the original report of June 15,2007. As John Hickman of Rampant Lion Gonstruction determined while preparing for the additional interior footings and support, he has found some conditions that are not included in the details and optionaldetails on the plan. John has described the conditions he has found and we discussed the modifications to best meet those conditions as well as incorporating other minor changes noted and commented on here. Addendum 1 Remove the note near the bottom of the left half of the foundation plan "Aligns with upper level roof beam" that aligns with the left post for the "new 4 x 10 DF #1" beam and the center of the footing. This post and footing could remain approximately where shown. Some floor joists are located directly under some of the required bearing points, thus directly over the center of the new posts and footings. At these locations triple studs may be used in lieu of a solid post, allowing a stud to go up both faces of the joist nailed with the same nails specified for plywood gussets or 25o/o more 16d sinkers as 10d shorts that would be nailed into a specified strap. The multiple studs should be nailed with at least (12) 16d each face as glued to make the post which look similar to the existing post condition shown on the right side of detaib 411 and 5/1. Where a PA18 strap is called out for the post-to-footing connection such as the lower left footings, the strap may be attached to any oi tne multiple studS Since it was decided to use the simpler but potentially less reliable HGA10 clips for uplift, the joist under the wall interferes with that connection. However it is likely that the joist was naibd into from the wall plate above or at least from the plywood above that the floor plate would have been nailed into providing some capacity for uplift transfer. 2lle Pot nit n /w1 i^ tL yl- hd(er -1"*4. t,t'l- c\ (v, ni :':"+ g-Fo Ay., )4G^ '"" (r4" L,l ",rl) j" i'lq ,^/() S DS 4 ^S sLr.e*tr eAta a-t)e\a r4 ,/ cl o y<.-" \ ola", lu {Le-^-LoA na e^$ Y bu- we4t, ,) Letter to John and Lisa Lynes August 17,2007 Page2 of2 The footing shown at the upper left of the plan should be eliminated as no wall exists on the lower floor above. lf the roof beam issupporled (not required unleqs the beam is cut at the wall) at the second floor near this location, floor framing would be assumed to carry the loads to the exterior and new adjacent footing toward the bottom of the plan view. lf the interior posts are pressure treated and the treated end is placed against the concrete (with the cut end up against the beam), no building paper is required between the post and footing, and a skin coat of grout may be provided to provide even bearing if the treated cut end is not square. However, hot-dipped galvanized nails and"Z max" coated straps should be used in contact with the pressure-treated material unless it is Douglas fir with a light solvent copper napthanate treatment or other specifically approved, non- corrosive treatment. All notes and limitations of the June report apply unless specifically approved. Please call if you have any questions. Respectfully submitted, Craig R.
