PARKS, RECREATION & TREE ADVISORY BOARD MEETING MINUTES
Date: February 28, 2017 Time: 4:30 pm Location: City Hall First Floor Conference Room
Members Present: Lyndi Hutchison, Debbie Jahnke (Vice Chair), Jim Todd, Ed Robeau (Chair), Paul Schutt, Roarke Jennings
Members Absent: Brenda McMillan
Staff Present: Parks & Facilities Manager Alex Wisniewski, Deputy City Clerk Joshua Stecker
Topic Motions/Recommendation/Action
Approval of Minutes The Minutes of October 25, 2016 and January 24, 2017 were
unanimously approved.
Alex Wisniewski updated the Board on recreation and maintenance activities
and asked for Board input on how they would like to see future reporting on
pool attendance.
Debbie Jahnke presented a slide show of her photos of the DNR Urban
Forestry Restoration Project activities at Kah Tai Lagoon Nature Park, Sather
Park, Bishop Park and the Haller Stairs in 2015 and 2106 and gave an
update on planned activities for 2017.
Ed Robeau identified several public awareness activities related to the
recently revise animal control code for the Board to undertake including:
Developing rules and updating signage
Establishing police enforcement strategies including regular bicycle
patrols through Kah Tai Lagoon Nature Park to cite violators
Community education campaigns including use of a leaflet drafted by
Ed Robeau (not provided at the meeting)
Asking the Leader to interview Alex Wisniewski
Sending out press releases
Notifying the public through the City Newsletter
Notifying the public through KPTZ
Ed Robeau and Debbie Jahnke will work on revising a draft
leaflet that Ed Robeau has prepared to educate citizens on
leash requirements and off-leash rules.
Debbie Jahnke distributed an updated draft of the City street tree list for the
Board to review.
The Board will review the list and discuss at a future meeting.
Debbie Jahnke presented the City’s Engineering Design Standards Tree List
used for the selection of the trees on the Howard Street Project.
The Board will review the list and suggest revisions to the
City.
