Aumock, Consulting Fire Code Inspector, East Jefferson Fire & Rescue � � - Dt: 02 October 2008 Re: BLD08-205: Hancock Apts., 620 Hancock Street, ADA Upgrades Cc: None I am in receipt of the set of plans for the above -referenced proposal from your office, have reviewed the proposal with the International Fire Code [I.F.C.], 2006 Edition and Washington State Amendments, and applicable N.F.P.A. code sections. The following constitutes this plan examiner's findings and determinations based upon the plans of record submitted. Findings & Determinations: 1. The proposal was reviewed as an existing multi -story Group R-2 occupancy with proposed ADA improvements. No information was provided as to ADA fire detection requirements. 2. The applicant shall verify if an automatic fire detection alarm system is in place for the R-2 elements of this occupancy, which is subject to system improvements pursuant to International Building Code Chapter 1 I requirements, as amended by Washington State. Verification shall be made that common areas [laundry, restrooms, etc.] are provided audio-visual notification devices consistent with the requirements under I.B.C. Chapter 11. 3. Verification shall be provided that single- and/or multiple -station smoke detection is provided for this occupancy under IFC Section 907.2.10.1.2: a. On the ceiling or wall outside of each separate sleeping area in the immediate vicinity of bedroom[s], b. In each room used for sleeping purposes. 4. During demolition and/or construction, the proposal is subject to general precautions against fire provisions of Chapter 14 of the I.F.C. and related sections. Any other applicable or relevant sections of said Code not covered herein shall nonetheless apply to this proposal. 0.75 hours time was logged in the review of this proposal. It is the recommendation of this consulting fire code inspector that the proposal be approved subject to the aforesaid requirements of the International Fire Code.
