Or join us at the next Community Workshop: What: Howard Street & Upper Sims Way Future - Community Workshop When: Wednesday, August 23 at 5:30-7:30pm Where: The Cotton Building - 607 Water Street Why: The City is working to develop a plan for attracting housing, jobs, and economic investment in the Howard Street & Upper Sims Way area. It builds upon the community’s past planning efforts to anticipate growth and achieve a housing-jobs balance. In addition to the plan, the project will also produce updated zoning standards, and a list of recommended capital improvements for the area to ensure it is well- designed and aligns with the community’s vision. The City aspires to develop a plan that will uphold the vision of a district that: 1) Values the manufacturing of goods by small, independently-owned businesses; 2) Provides housing for residents of all economic levels, along with access to living wage jobs and services within the local community; 3) Promotes a business ready area, and that clearly articulates the City’s regulations and design standards; and 4) Respects the importance of protecting the environment, and balances that priority with the need for job and housing opportunities. Residents voices are necessary to shape the future of this area. We encourage Port Townsend community members to participate in the online survey or participate in the community workshop.
