RESOLUTION NO. 17-007
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND,
WASHINGTON, DESIGNATING OFF -LEASH DOG AREAS WITHIN THE CITY OF
PORT TOWNSEND
WHEREAS, Chapter 8.04 of the Port Townsend Municipal Code requires dogs to be
kept on -leash while on City -owned property and rights-of-way unless those areas are specifically
designated as off -leash areas; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council ("Council") has considered the recommendations of the
Parks, Recreation and Tree Advisory Board as well as public comment on this matter; and,
WHEREAS, Council acknowledges the need to balance the needs of all of the Citizens
of Port Townsend, including the recreational needs of both dog owners and non -dog owners;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend as follows:
1. The following areas within the City of Port Townsend are designated as "off -leash"
areas:
A. Dog Park at Chetzemoka (Lots 1 to 5, Block 2, Drummond's Addition);
B. City -owned property located at 35th Street and Thomas Street Tax lots 38 and 39
(S3 T30 R1 W);
C. City -owned property located at Umatilla Avenue and Holcomb Street 30th Street
and Jackman Street (Block 46, Dundee Place)
All as shown on the map at Exhibit A.
2. Resolution 16-023 is superseded by this Resolution.
3. The City Manager is authorized to take other administrative actions consistent with this
Resolution.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend at a regular meeting
thereof, held this 6th day of February 2017.
