I have reviewed the plan changes proposed by the owner and as shown in pages 2 thru 5 for
structural compliance and Find them to be acceptable- The changes are as follows:
1, Eliminate dormer at east elevation—see pages 3 & 5.
2. Dormer on west elevation:
a. Changeladd windows—see pages 2 & 5,
b. Eliminate window in north wall of dormer.
3. Eliminate one window at east elevation of dormer see pages 3 & 5.
4, Add windows at south elevation—see pages 4 & 5.
5. Move door at porch entry and add window—see pages 2 & 5.

COMMENTS:
Per IBC section 2308.08.2 holes may be bored in the floor joist provided they meet the
following criteria:
1) Holes bored in the joist shall not be within 2" from the top or bottom of the joist.
2) The diameter of any such hole shall not exceed 1/3 the joist depth".
At locations where the existing holes do no comply with the above criteria, add a 2x scab to the
side of the joist as shown below.

Dear Mr. Speck:
I have reviewed your submittal to add an accessory dwelling unit to the shop building. As a part
of my review I compared the plans to the design for the shop pole building. The engineer's
original design parameters for the building do not indicate that the addition of a second level was
considered. The changes add additional floor loading to the structure and increase the lateral
loading. The proposed change will need to be reviewed by the design engineer to confirm that
the base structure can support the additional loading without modification or to provide
necessary structural revisions.
I will review the engineer's submittal as quickly as I can upon receipt to conclude the permitting
