Except as exempted in Chapter 70, Section 7003 of the Uniform Building Code, no person shall do any grading without first obtaining
a grading permit from the building official (see attached exemptions). Grading operations for which a permit is required shall be
subject to inspection by the building official. When a plan or other data is required to be submitted, a plan review fee shall be paid
at the time of submitting plans and specifications for review.

Note: If more than 100 cubic yazds is involved, submittal of as environmental checklist is required. Grading in excess of
5,000 cubic yards shall be performed in accordance with the approved grading plan prepared by a civil engineer, and shall be
designated as "engineered grading." Grading involving less than 5,000 cubic yazds shall be designated "regular grading"
ttnless the permittee chooses to have the grading performed as engineered grading or the building official determines that
special conditions or unusual hazards exist, in which case grading shall conform to the requirements for engineered grading.
STTE PLAN REQUIItEMENTS: To help ensure timely review of your application, please submit two copies of an
accurate site plan drawn to scale which include the following information:
1. General vicinity of the proposed site; indicate north arrow.
2. Property lines and 2-foot contours of existing ground and details of terrain and area drainage. (Maps are
available for copying at the Public Works Department, 5210 Kuhn Street)
3. Dimensions and depth of cut and fill.
4. Location of any buildings or structures on the lot where work is to be performed and the location of any
buildings or structures within 15 feet of the proposed grading.
