Topic Motions/Recommendation/Action
Approval of Minutes: May 4, 2016 The minutes were unanimously approved with the
change of noting that Dominica Lord-Wood recused herself from voting on the Northwind Arts Center
application (vote was 3-1).
The Commission reviewed an application from Oracle Arts/Chameleon Theater. A prior application had been approved, but was later
determined by the City Attorney not to be qualified for a grant. The
applicant had been asked to submit a revised application.
The Chair will contact the applicant, as the application included in the packet has not been
revised.
The Commission reviewed an application from the Port Townsend
Summer Band for 2016 concert publicity and programs.
The Commission unanimously voted to approve
funding of $480.
The Commission discussed a draft statement about repeat funding and
new applications.
Dominica Lord-Wood and Dan Groussman will
incorporate the suggested changes and return with
a revised draft.
Judith-Kate Friedman presented two applications from Songwriting
Works, one for the Intergenerational Community MusicTeams program
and the other for pay-as-you-wish distribution of the “Life’s a Song” CD.
The Commission voted unanimously to fund $800
for the MusicTeams program.
The Commission voted 5-2 (with Dan Groussman and Kris Morris opposed) to fund $200 for the
distribution of “Life’s a Song” CDs to Port Townsend
schools, library, and social service agencies.
Denise Winter presented an application from Key City Public Theatre
presented for the Education Initiative for Youth.
The Commission approved funding of $1000 by a
vote of 6-0 (with Abbie Greene recused).
The Commission considered the possibility of instituting two application
deadlines in future years to help with budgeting.
Commission members will review historical funding
data and discuss at the next meeting.
