The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has revised select maps that
identify flood hazard zones within Jefferson County, including areas within the City limits
of Port Townsend. The public is invited to attend the following informational meeting:

THE MEETING WILL COVER THE FOLLOWING TOPICS:
PROPERTY IDENTIFICATION AND DIGITAL MAPPING
Property owners will have the opportunity to have a specific map created of their parcel, review possible
floodplain mapping changes that effect their property, identify if their property is within the flood zone,
and learn about possible risks identified within the flood zone.
FLOOD STUDY AND ENGINEERING
The flood study team engineers will discuss the methodology behind the flood study update and
highlighted flood risk products displaying flood depths and water surface elevations during a 1-percent-
annual-chance flood.
FLOOD INSURANCE
A flood insurance specialist will be in attendance to provide guidance on flood insurance requirements
and offer the best options for property owners to get the lowest flood insurance rate.
FLOODPLAIN REGULATIONS
A floodplain management specialist will be providing information regarding the National Flood
Insurance Program and participating communities’ compliance requirements.
WASHINGTON DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES AND WASHINGTON DEPARTMENT OF ECOLOGY
Staff from both agencies will be providing information about statewide flood mapping priorities, risk
reducing strategies, and state floodplain regulations.
JEFFERSON COUNTY AND CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND
County and City staff brought will be available to answer specific local permitting, building, and storm
water questions and inform participants about additional ongoing hazard mitigation efforts in the region.
