Board
Minutes of the February 5, 2015 Meeting
City Hall 1st Floor Conference Room
Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 4:30 p.m. Board members present were Jolly Wahlstrom,
Lys Burden, Pat Teal, Scott Walker, Richard Dandridge, Hendrik Taatgen, Sally Chapin, and
Mike Kaill with Mark Henthorn absent. Deputy City Clerk Joshua Stecker and Project Manager Tyler Johnson, were also present from City Staff.
Approval of Minutes
The minutes of the January 8th and January 22nd meetings were unanimously approved with
minor revisions. Grant Street School Trail
Notices will go out to property owners about work beginning on a trail project on 16th & McClellan Streets near Grant Street Elementary School. Lys Burden spoke with school officials
who indicated they may be open to allowing a trail on school grounds.
Striping Requests
Sally Chapin relayed a request from Owen Fairbank to replace the crosswalk on Walker Street.
19th & Sheridan Streets and Kearney Street by Sims Way were identified as areas of issue for striping.
Staff Report Tyler Johnson reported that a new bike rack had been installed near the Lighthouse Café. A trail
along the water line below Howard Street will be incorporated into the Stormwater Plan. New public trail signs are available to install.
Vegetation Maintenance Jolly Wahlstrom requested vegetation maintenance for the 800 block of Taylor Street. Bicycles on Sidewalks The board discussed recent safety issues with bicyclists using sidewalks. Lys Burden will draft a letter to Council recommending Municipal Code changes. Sally Chapin will inquire about
sidewalk tile signage.
Work Party
The next work party was scheduled for March 21st from 9-12 at the Spruce Street Trail between Cedar and Center Streets.
Trails Article for PT Leader Mike Kaill is working on a trails article for the PT Leader’s annual visitor guide detailing popular
loop trails. The draft of the article is due in early March. Next Meeting
The next regularly scheduled meeting will be on March 5. Adjourn
The meeting adjourned at 6:00 p.m.
