HomeMy WebLinkAbout102775 Min 1 k I MINUTES THE PORT TOWNSEND PLANNING COMMISSION OF OCTOBER 2 7 t 1975 Chairman Lester called the meeting to order. Commissioners present: Graham, Lester, Johnson, Wojt. Also present: R. Tyler, City Planner, R. French, City Eng. , and Councilman Ca tfleld. The minutes , which were mailed to the Commissioners, were corrected and amended. R. Tyler put forth the suggestion the Commissioners might wish to consider - designating committees with regard to streets, land use, and long range planning. K. Wojt said Mr. McCulloch, a Consultant, would like to come to Port Townsend to show us how to get grant money for street studies, parking, etc, She also announced there would be a PAW meetingMarch 1 -13 in Olympia, APPLICATION NO, 72 - Pacific Northwest Evangelical Free Church domes Lawrence and Kearney The public hearing was opened to consider this request for a rezone of "that portion of Estate Addition from Gaines St. to Walker St. , and from Lawrence St, to the Junior High property" from R-I to R-III. The hearing was taped, Kenneth L. Loge, Admini- strator, dmini- strator, spoke first. He explained the proposed use of the land for retirement complex - one bedroom units for senior citizens. The secretary read letters from fir. & Mrs. James Brooks and Mr. & Mrs, Harold Lewis, adjacent property owners, who were agreeable to favorable action. Discussion followed. A motion by Graham/Johnson recommended to the City Council the application be granted and property described as posted be changed to R-III . VOTE : yes 3 no l I . Woj t' s objection was because of the potential use under R--III. She felt the Zoning Ordinance should be amended to allow contract zoning. APPLICATION NO, 81 - Miller H. Jensen, Box 594 This request is for a Conditional Use Permit and a Rezone of property � located at: Eisenbeis Addition Block 276 Lots 7 & from -I to C-II. Proposed Use : optometric Clinic Mr. Jensen was present and spoke; discussion followed. Woj t/Graham moved that a public hearing be set for November 24 , 1975, to determine whether the City Ordinance should be amended, making clinics a Conditional Use in Zones R-I, R-II , -III, and P-I . This would give flexibility t allow clinics in areas not now allowed. VOTE: yes A move by Woj t/Graham tabled No. 81 until the next meeting on Nov. 24 , 1975, VOTE : yes 3 no APPLICATIONS NO. 79 & 80 -- Anthony E . Stroeder, 1730 Bill. St. Application No. 80 is a request to rezone: Eisenbeis Addition Blocks 237 & 238 Lots 1 thru 8 in each block t a MINUTES UES THE PORT TOWNSEND PLANNING COMMISSION OF OCTOBER 27r 1975 from -I to C-11 , Proposed Use: General commercial--shopping complex- hotel-motel. ml x- hotel-motel. Application No. 79 is a request for a street vacation of � "that portion of 6th street, lying between Sheridan and Hendricks, and between 6th and 7th Streets on Grant" . Mr. stroeder was present and spore. After discussion, Johnson/Woj mored a public hearing for the rezone be set for November 24 , 1975, and at that time the Commission would also consider the street vacation on Application No. 79 . VOTE: yes 3 no 0 K. Wojt mored a committee be appointed to look into contract zoning as a possible amendment to the city Ordinance. The notion died without a second. The meeting was adjourned.
