MINUTES of PORT TO NS ND PLANNING COMMISSION of APRIL 15, 19
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Miner. All Commissioners ,
were present. The minutes were read and approved,,
Chairman Miner reported on the Trails Symposium in Wenatchee. The
Commission thea discussed a proposed Comprehensive Plan for Streets
and Trails Development they would like to submit to the City Council.
If possible, the meeting of April 29 will be devoted primarily to
working on this plan.
The request of Gerald and Phyllis Rodgers for a setback variance on
property located at: Mountain view Second Addition, Block 24, Lot 9 ,
on which action had been deferred so the Commissioners could review
the property, now came into discussion. Chairman Miner read letters
of protest from far. & Mrs. Ed May and Mrs . Bernice Harris . Gerald
Rodgers spoke from the audience and submitted letters and signatures
from surrounding home owners who have no objection to the variance.
Councilmen Torn Camfield and Joe Cippriotti also participated in the
discussion.. The hearing was taped. Ed May disqualified himself
from voting on this issue. After lengthy discussion, on a motion by
Robert Johnson, seconded by Max Loomis, it was voted to recommend to
the City Council that Nor. Rodgers be granted a 10-foot setback
variance on condition the right of way be located closer to the
reservoir. VOTE: yes 5 no 0 1 abstention d May
There was also a request from Gerald and Phyllis Rodgers for a street
vacation of: that portion of Adams Street which divides Block 24
and Bloch 25 of the Mountain view Second Addition,
beginning at the intersection of Reed Street and
proceeding northwest, said vacation to apply only to
presently undeveloped right of way. A motion was
made by Robert Johnson, seconded by Fred Lester, to postpone this until
the next meeting. VOTE: yes
A Petition for Street vacation was ream from Lowell and Lillian Tiller,
Edward and Eileen Barcott, and Charles and Dorothy Ingalls, requesting
the vacation of: that portion of R Street lying between Dose Street
and Willow Street. Discussion followed. on a motion by Kay Woj ,
seconded by Fred Lester, it was voted to table this request until such
time as the Commission has a Street and Trails Development Plan, which
would enable there to determine if this viewpoint would be useable with
the plan. VOTE: yes 5 no 1
scheduled public hearing was held on the rezone petition of Jack
Hensel for property located at: Broadway and Cherry Park Additions
from an R-1 to an R-2 zone . Neither Mr. Hensel or other possible
interested persons were in the udie �e. After discussion, on a
motion by Fred Lester, seconded by Harry Deits, it was voted to
recommend to the City Council a rezone be granted.

Next was a scheduled public rehearing on a request from Ronald P.
Radon to rezone: that area bounded on the south by Jefferson St.
on the east by the extension of Jackson St.
on the north by the extension of Clay St.
on the we s t by Monroe S to
for the purpose of constructing boat storage buildings. The rehearing
was taped. Mr. Radon was present and entered into the discussion.
Jeff Pedersen spoke in opposition. His objections were primarily to
fumes, fire hazard and further expansion of the area. Councilmen
Camf eld, Cippriotti, and Black participated in the discussion,
After lengthy discussion, on a motion by Fred Lester, seconded by
Max Loomis, it was voted to recommend to the City Council the rezone
of Block 93 and the south half of the vacated portion of Franklin
Street t P-1. VOTE: yes 6 no
The meeting was adjourned.
