Members present: Lester, May, Miner, Deets, Wo t, Johnson.
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Miner. The minutes were not read.
4*Mr. diner gave the Commission information from the office of Community
Development regarding an Executive Training Session to be conducted in
Seattle in November, for those wishing to attend.
letter was read from the City Council to the Commission, recommending
the variance request from David d Hero be considered an amendment to the
Ordinance to allow ceramic production as a► conditional use in certain zones.
Letters were read pertaining to the production of silk-screened fabrics by
Alleniana Design in an R�l zone. This was followed by a lengthy discussion
of the Commission and members of the audience. Glenn Abraham, City Attorney,
brought into the discussion an outline of a possible amendment to Section 3.03
of the Ordinance, as a conditional use. On a motion by Robert Johnson, second
by Harry Deets, a hearing was scheduled for November 26, 1973, on an amend-
ment to the Ordinance permitting art and handicrafts production as a
conditional use in any zone. VO E: yes 5 no 0

David Hero was present and spoke briefly regarding his request for the
production of ceramics in an R-1 zone . on a► motion by Ed May, seconded by
Robert Johnson, a hearing was scheduled for November 26, 1973, on ars

hearing was held on the request of Mrs. Albert Amell for a rezone of
property at 912 Taylor Street. The hearing was taped. Speaking from the
audience were John E. Fish, Mr. Caldwell, and David Hero who opposed the
request. A► discussion followed. on a motion by Robert Johnson, seconded
by Ed May, it was voted to recommend to the City Council the petion for
a rezone be denied as being inconsistent with the Ordinance and our actions
in the past in denying similar rezone. VOTE: yes 5 no 0
A Conditional Use Permit was requested by Sarah C. Locke and Mr. & Mrs .
Go M. Smith on property located at lot Corona to operate a Washington
State Group Home. After discussion, on a motion by Fred Lester, seconded
by Ed May, it was voted to recommend to the City Council the request for
a Conditional Use Permit be granted. VOTE: yes 5 no 0
Members of the Commission who went to the Washington State Conference in
Kelso shared their experiences and impressions.
Future meetingsf the Planning Commission will be held at p, m,
instead of at 8:00 p. m.
