HomeMy WebLinkAbout082773 Min MINUTES OF PORT TOWNSEND ND PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING OF August 27, 1 All Commissioners were present. The meeting was called to order by Chairman Kay Miner. He introduced Evelyn Charkow, the new secretary, to the Commissioners. The minutes were read and corrected, Kay Miner and Harry Deus will meet with Glenn Abrahams on the Density Phan for Zoning, Hearing on Ancillary Buildings awaiting information from Roger French. The hearing on a request from J. A. Pedersen for a rezone of property in the Smith addition was Yield. It was not taped. After Mr* Pedersen was heard briefly, there were comments from several people present who opposed the rezone. They were Leo Zeil, Bob N i to, Commander W. Jackson, Mrs. Leslie McCleary, Mr, and Mrs. James Myers , Barbara Broshear, Mrs. Wallin, and Bill Black.. A Petition also was submitted, against the rezone . Mr. Pedersen spoke again; then Mrs , Pedersen commented in favor of the rezone. After lengthy discussion, on a motion by Harm efts, seconded by Max Loomis, it was voted to recommend to the City Council that the Rezone Request be denied. VOTE: yes 6 no 0 A variance Request from Arell for property at 921 Tyler was again held over for more information., There was discussion on reduction of the boundaries of the proposed rezone of the Sims Way area, which was requested by the City Council. A snap was submitted by Mrs. Woj t showing possible suggestions with regard to a large portion of Sims Way. Discussion followed. The following new boundaries were recommended: Start at Highway right of way at Sheridan and State Highway Thence north to 6th Street Thence west on 6th to Hendricks Thence north on Hendrix to 7th Thence west on 7th to Hancock Thence south on Hancock to north edge of 6th Street right of way Thence west along north side of extension of 6th Street to the powerline right of way Thence southwest alone powerline right of way to 3rd Street Thence east on 3rd to McPherson Thence north on McPherson to a point 200 feet south of State Highway right of way Thence in a generally easterly direction along a line 200 feet south of the south side of State right of way and parallel to it to Hendricks Street Thence north on Hendricks to State Highway right of way Thence cast along Highway right of way to starting point On a motion by Ed May, seconded by Harm Deits, it was voted to recommend these new, reduced boundaries of the proposed rezone of the Sims Way area to the City Council , VOTE: yes 6 no 0 The meeting was adjourned.
