The meeting was opened with the reading or the minutes.
They were approved as read .
report by Fred Lester on' his recent attendance at a
Planning Conference. A copy of his notes was given to each
commissioner.
A letter was read from Paul Craton requesting a public
hearing date be set to consider a rezone in the area of some
property he owns on the waterfront. Iv r e Deits made the motion
to recommend to the City Council to gave consideration to the
rezoning of that property bounded by
on the East by Harrison, North by Water Street, west by
Gaines and South by City Limits. Also on the East by
Gaines , Notth by Washington, West by Benedict Street
( at the Coast Guard Moorage and south by City Limits.
This motion was seconded by B. Johnson, The Planning Commission
set the next regular meeting date , November 27th, as the Public
Hearing. The secretary was instructed to prepare the proper
notices for the posting of property and. public anounoeent.
A variance application was read from Mr~. Victor Coster.
He was present to answer questions. on a motion from
the Commission will recommend to the Council to allow Mr. Coster
variance provided he follow a twenty foot set back on the
Sheridan side of his property, and an eight foot setback on the
third Street side. It was also noted at the time that Nir Coster
owns the adjoining property, and therefore the backyard set back
was not thought to be an itein of concern.

A second variance request was read from Vir.. end Mrs. Herbert
Reardon. They also were present and answered questions asked of there
by the Commissioners. On a motion from B. Johnson it was decided
to recomme d to the Council that this variance be granted
as requested providing the Reardons Face their front door to the
58th street side of the hous e. .'pd by Lester.
It should be recorded in the minutes that fir. Abraham, City
Atty., and the Commission agreed that the setback requirements
are very often left for interperation to ars individuals
choice of front door location! )
The Planning Commission along with lir. Abraham opened
discussion of the proposal recently introduced by City Err.
Roger French on the conceivability of a "population density"
of net acne usage. While all details are far from worked out,
the Commission and members ers f the audience discussed some of
the possibilities this proposal l could offer. Kay diner appointed
a committee to study feasibility of this pian and to report
their findings. Appointed are Deits, I-liner, Arahan and French.
