Members present,, Loomis, Wojt, Diets, Hohnson , Lester,May and Miner
The meeting opened at 7*30 with the reading of the ,dune 1972
meeting. They were approved as read .
Old business f
Kay Miner brought the attention of the commissioners to the
street vacation feasability plan which he had recently delivered
to each member. Their was brief discussion. Byron Ruby was
present and spoke concerning possible loss of access to
property he presently owns. It was pointed out to him and the
audience that this plan was not official, but merely a study of
possible ways to reduce the amount of unopened streets in that
Forth Beach district, and while it suggested in the drawing
a street could be vacated., this request would have to come from
the property owners surrounding that street, and all would have
to give concent. Because of the nature of business for the
evening, further discussion was pospc ned .

1. Hearing commenced on a proposed amendment to the ordinance
No. 1625 , the Zoning Ordinance, amending the ordinance to include
Compressed Air for use in tanks, and the retail sale of same,
and the operation of this equipment in all zones as a
conditional use . Mr. Abraham was present, as requested b�. the
Commission, and submitted to the Commission an appropiate
amendent. This public hearin i

Cit Council takes an action on this request.
Tose members of the audience participating were- R. Watson,
T. B lgaard, B. Ruby, French, and Abraham.
Karry Diets made the motion to send the proposed amendment to the
City council. seconded by Loomis. Note 5 yes, Johnson no.
2. The public hearing request of Sandy Davis, A and w Drive in
was considered next. This hearing is recorded on tape # 3 , and
will be kept on file with the Planning Commission until action
on the rezone request is taken by the City Council.
Those present to speak were Sandy Davis, and Dick short, B. Ruby.
It was moved , and seconded by Diets to recommend t
the City Council to grand the rezone request of sandy Davis,
and w Drive in. vote 6 yes.
3. The request of R. James Campbell for a rezone of property at
incolm and Taylor, to allow an apartment house to be built on
that property. At the recot=endation of the City Attorney, the
rezone request was expanded to include all of Blocks 1, 21 11, and
12, to allow .for ars R-3 zone in that area. This public hearing
is recorded on tape # 4 and will be kept on file with the
Planning Commission until the City Council takes action on this
request. Letters were read and there was much discussion from
the audience . A motion by Johnson to reco. amend to the City to
dere the request of Mr. Campbell was seconded by May. Note 5 yes,
Lester no.

The request of Grady Cook was again considered. Discussion
followed . Mr. Cook was not
present nor were any discussions brought up from the
audience. Mr. Loomis made the motion to recommend to the
City Council the granting of Yir Cook' s request as read .
2nd by Johnson. vote : yes- Loomis, May, Johnson
no,., Wt Fester, Diets.
To bread{ the tie , Chairman Miner cast a yes vote. A letter will
be sent to the Council.
New business:
A request was read from Northwest s lympic Development, Inc .
asking for a public hearing by the Planning Commission t
consider a rezone request by them of property located at
Lots 2.4, 5 ,6,7 and 8, Block 175 in the Estate Addition t
Port Townsend. The date for this hearing will be August 14,1972
in a special meeting of the P1 nning Commissioners . The
sectetary was instructed to take the proper steps to notify
the public.
