Some months ago it was recalled, ars official request for such a map was made by this commission to the mayor and the city council. No snap has been r•ecieved, altho it has been put into existance, ../0" 2. A request by err. R. and A. Dickerson, for a vacation of Hood Street, nest of Cowels Addition was read* Mr. Pedersen called to the attention of the commission the recomendaion seat to city council concerning the proposed map, and street V,acations. Mr. Pedersen thea made the motion that " the r Planning Commission of Port Townsend accept no more street vacation requests until the snap requested be in the hands f of the Port Townsend Planning Commission, s request three 1 Ile months prior." A letter will be sent to city council again, 3 * A short discussion by the chairman, r. There was a lengthy and intense discussion concerning the proposed new zoning code. Commission members have been lead to believe that the mayor, Mr. Smith, has made deletions and penciled corrections of his ori. The commission 2s members also have been lead to believe that these changes apparently will not be returned to the planning commre sio tr 'I . `. but will be presented to the city coun4jilA The planners Feel that at least aiportion of the changes are detrimental to the proposed zoning code which they presented) , some deletions and changes include the proposed histories site restorations, the green belt, lot size requirements,downtown resid encia . restrictions, and the variance section. strong discussion followed pointing out that neither the mayornor city council members had ever entered into discussion with the Planning Commission concerning these deletions and corrections to the proposed zoning code. Members ofthe planning commission feA that their time, as individuals and as committee as a whole had been wasted, if this was the way in which their efforts were to be rewarded- that is to 4'1�c ��� Ifo says accepted or regected, dependin which side you view* At this point, Mr. Miner,"in order to first arrive at step of action", made the motion that the Fort Townsend Planning Commission serve notice to the City Council that it disclaims any chin to the Proposed Zoning Ordinance as it presently reads, " This was seconded, but did not pass the vote. 2 yes, 3no) /I Anew motion was then made by Mr. Miner, stating" that the Planning Commission of Fort Townsend register its diu pproval of the Fort Townsend City governmentts action in revising the proposed zoning ordinance without consultation with the Planning Commission. Each planning commission member was then handed a letter from the chairman, Mr. Hillman, stating his re signaion as chairman of the commission, effective i ediatel a Members urged Mr. Hillman to reconsider, or at least to remain on the commission s a member, Mr* Hillman said he would continue to give the matter additional thought. The Planners discussed their stats as a commission without a permanent leader, and Upressed hope that no prolonged delay w- � ensue before a new chairman appointed. 6a A motion was made to thank Ir. Hillman for his sincere efforts on the Planning Commission as its chairman, and to encourage Mr. Hillman to remain with the Commission n\Lv..�e until such time a-,-new can be. appointed.
