Communications: A letter from Lloyd Meeds regarding the progress o l funds for completion of the Pont Townsend planning program was read. Included was a copy of a letter from Ricbard Ives, Division of Planning Assistance, Washington., D.C., reporting that the appropria- tions are not yet available from Congress. communication from Brian Milkman, Urban Design Be - Ti n Seattle Planning Commission., thanking the local Commission for information regarding historical restoration in Port Townsend was read. Notice of the Jefferson County Planning Commission t be held Wednesday September 14, 1966 at 2:oo P.M. in the Jefferson County Court House was read. All members were urged to attend. New Business: The Planning Commission learned through the Port Townes send Fader of Thursday, September 8. 1966 that the City Council pre- sumed that the ratter of keferral of a request for vacation f certain City streets in favor of the construction of a mobille Owe park had been made sometime 'in the past and that the Commission was to have acted on this previous to the date noted above. The ratter was in fact not referred to the Planning Commission and at this date has still not been referred. After some discussion, the members decided that its fairness to those making the petition for said Street vacation, some action on the part of the Planning Commission was in order. After vote of the members present, it was determined that the Commission would not recommend the vacation. The vote was as follows: Copps- no Lindquist- no Lester- no Green- no Vot reen- vot a of absent members Stuart- no Johnson- yes Deits,- yes In general discussion ,it was decided that there was no objection t the site proposed for the mobile park and this statement was written into the Commission's recommendation to the City Council.The Commission determined that the Chairman be instructed t r t letter explain- ing Alain- ing the Commission's attitude in this matter. The members agreed that the Commission request the City Council to refer ratters to the Canmis- sion in writing in the future to avoid any other misunderstandings of this nature. It was expected that Mr. Robert Clark will be i.n attendance t the next meeting. Resolution was passed approving the designation of a State of Washington Cultural Center at Fort Worden State Pax Port Townsend Said Resolution was requested y Phil Cods speaking g o ba f l f the Port Townsend Chamber of Commerce.
