Chairman Carman called the meeting to order at 700 P*M*
Members present were Ron Kosec, Bob Grimm, Alan Carman, and Nancy Slater.

In a note presented to the commission by Mark Wilcox on July•31: 1986,
he stated that the desirability of permitting commercial enterprises hotels
In the residential areas of the City was-completely undesirable and should
not be permitted because of the damage such commercialization would do to
the property values and the livability of the homes within the residential
areas. (Mrs Wilcox's submitted objections were readin- the meeting and a
copy is on file),
Mrs. Slater was in-agreement that Hotels and Inns should have condion l
review, but not Just in -II,
MrV Kosec was unsure -that any changes to .the omitted and-Conditional Uses
should be made as others might grant changes as well and the commisson should
not be amending the zoning ordinance bn an individual basis.
The commission was in general agreement that hotels and inns should be
conditionally reviewed.
It was pointed out that some of the Bed and Breakfast establishments
could qualify as a hotel with the Five bedrooms.
Nancy.. later moved to recommend to the City Council denial of Application
No. 686-01 based on the fact it presents a problem, but a more comprehensive
review of permitted and cord .tional uses is needed than what was contained
n the proposed application. Bob Grimm seconded the motion and the vote
was unanimous.
Fancy Slater moved to recommend to the City Council that on page 14732
of permitted and conditional uses of the zonJLng ordinance there be an ffx$'
be placed in the Conditional Use column beside Hotels Inns* 'This
beim recommended after consulting legal council to deter .n if this
proposal Is allowable. Bob Grimm seconded the motion and the vote was

Mrs. Slater asked the .commisslon if It would be possible to set goals for
January and February 1987 to review the zoning ordinance answering some of
the questions being ralsede

Mr. Larson explained that in the early 1950's one of his buildings had been
extended into a different parcel. It was an error and he wanted to have
two tax parcels with boundary adjustments.
Chairman Garman explained that when the new ordinance was in effect that
It would help chanes of this sort.
The commission was told that there is water and sewer to both parcels. The
buildings are al ready existing.
Mr. Larson agreed to dividing the property into 2 parcels statin that was
his original intention.
Ron Kosec moved to grant preliminary approval to Short Pkat Application
. 682-02 as it meets the criteria under Subdivision Ordinance 1806,
dividing into lots 1 and 2 extending lot 2 including tax 9 into lot 2.
Bob Grimm seconded the motion and the vote was 3 for and 1 abstained (Slater),

Where will be a regular meeting August 28, 1986 and a workshop meeting September
