Opening Business
Chairmm= Slater called the meeting to order at 7:30 P.M.
Members present were Fancy SlaterY Jim Campbell, Doxy Hoglund, Bob Grp,
Alan C rmaun and Jim Taverna i s.
Jim Campbell moved that the minutes of June 27, 1985 be approved as written.
Jim Tavernakis seconded the motion and the vote was unanimous*
Jim Tavernakis told the commission that he had visited a planning commission
meeting in Danville, Ca fornia, and found their meetings essentially like
Port Townsend's Planning Commission meetings, but on a larger soap.
It was noted that on July- 20, 1985 Jay Gibson resigned his commission seat.

Mr. DeLee explained that there was plenty of room for his proposed game.
He said his neighbor had a. garage closer to the property line than his would
be. Mr. DeLeo was instructed that only survey standards to be used to determine
property lines.
Mr. Carman explained that Mr. Hoglund and he had looked at the property t o-
gether and found that adjacent property garages in lane with this proposal.
All the houses 6n that side follow the same set back. The committee of Carman
and Hoglund would recommend recommending approval with the condition that the
drainage not go into neighboring property or the street.
Alan Caman moved to recommend approval of Application No. 885-01 as it complies
with Section 6.10 of City~ Ordinance 1625, items 1--,8. Jim Campbell seconded the
motion and the vote was unanimous.
Don Hoglund would write the report for the City Council,

Miscellaneous
letter was presented to the commission objecting to having to secure a
variance to build a simple boat shelter by an-angry I r. Donley, Chainnman
Slater promised to look into the 'matter and find out the facts why a. eighboting
development was allowed against public outcry. Letter is on file With the
Planning Commission secretary.
On October 24 workshop the commission agreed to review the fence variance
Application No. 985-01. Taverna is and Campbell were assigned as the committee
f prior review.
David Goldsmith discussed with the commission the soon to be revievred
possible change to the Comprehensive Plan to allow for the annexation of
the Island Vista tstates and thea the review of the possible annexation.
He explained the problems the area had been having i-lith their sewer system.
If the annexation were done the city would assume all ext i l lty services,
fir. Goldsmith presented the commission a draft of the Roue Business and
Cottage Industries definition and standards. This also included a instruction
on when there needed to be a revieii under this section.because of a violation.
Mr. Goldsmith suggested the commission review it and clean it up a bit. The

Chairwoman Slater reviei ed the upcoming schedule for the rest of 1985. She also
had listed some proposed priority goals t +work on 'tha o ighi June -of 19$6. .
Copies of these were passed out to all of the commissioners.
