Chairman Demison ca�.led the meeting to order at 7: 50 P,M.
Members present were Jim Campbell Wanda Black., Julie McCulloch, Glenn Ison..
Jim Tavernak2s� and Larry Dennison* Prospective new member Nancy Zeppa was
introduced to the commission.
Chairman Dennison stated there mould be two workshop meetings to refine
new Comprehensive Plan presentation for the Council. The meetings- would
be on the nth and 12th of May •and if •agprova2 -was given by the Council
there would be a joi nt workshop and Field trip with the Council on May 24,
Jefferson Transit would be used for the field trip.

letter stating that the school. property was app priately zoned for the
planned mode izata".on. The letter was from school SUpr3.ntendent, Margaret

Mr. Gol-dsnith explained that with a fuligmtime courtourt, the c ounty would 1e
to keep that portion of Jefferson Street open.. but going oneftnway, for more pCafMLrk1r1g.

on the park in frontof the 'courthouse. Ninety degree parking would give
maximumcapacity': There still would be room for tura wady traffics but for
safety cone-way street a better idea. The plan is to enter Jefferson Street
via Cass 5treet and exit by Walker: Signs could -be installed to help at
people. The County is low on funds- -and may have to use money set aside for
Courthouse maantenance to do the necessary work-. He explained there would be
a crosswalk where the steps coxae down Prom Couhouse and Public Islorks Department
has not decided how to do the bank an the park side as yet. On being asked by

that the need to conserve funds kept the County from sl5ending money
• for a design until the clety gave the go ahead. Mr. Goldsmith said that
the city could give the final approval of plans.
The commission expressed their concern if the County offices were to
move to another -area as the �ai.l t�ri.l7.. Mr. Goldsm�.�h said it was unlikely.,
but could include a clause requiring street to revery bank t o the city

Wanda Black moved to recommend -to the City Council-that this Street Vacation
Application No. 183-01 be approved on the condition that the City approves
fins]. plan and

Mr. Gaowski stated that they wanted this vacation to have access to their

The commission explained to the Gaikowsk]*Ls that this would not be the
case vrith the vacation as the adjacent property owners would then own
the street.
. Glenn Ison suggested to the Gaikowskis that they get a permt to improve the
city street and then they'-could- gain access.
Mr. Isan moved to table the appli'cation for one month so the applicant can
fe.nd• the best way to handle their problem. Jula*,e McCulloch seconded the
motion and the vote was unani'mous,

After brief discussion., Jolie McCulloch moved to recUmmnd to the Council
that this Application No. 1 83-0� far a variance in setback re quirer�ertt be
approved as it meets theqreuirements 6.10 of the Zoning Ordinance, A. ].-8.mp8*
Glenn-Icon seconded the motion and it passed unarAimously.
