Minutes of the August 6, 2015, Meeting

Call to Order -The meeting was called to order at 4:30 p.m. Board members present were Jolly
Wahlstrom, Scott Walker, Lys Burden, Pat Teal, Mark Henthorn, Richard Dandridge, Hendrik
Taatgen, Sally Chapin and Mike Kaill. Deputy City Clerk Joshua Stecker and City Engineer
David Peterson were present from City Staff.
Approval of Minutes -The minutes of the June 4 and July 23, 2015 meetings were
unanimously approved.
Public Comment— Debbie Jahnke asked for gravel to be used at Kah Tai Lagoon Nature Park.
Staff Report— David Peterson reported that City staff will locate the property corners for the
Grant Street School trail. He also confirmed that the trail bordering the Choate property is in the
right of way. The Board was directed to use the citizen concern form on the City's website to
bring up trail issues that needed attention from City staff.
Information Boxes — Sally Chapin will look at options for purchasing flyer boxes to mount at
trailheads. Mike Kaill will work on drafting informational materials for the boxes.
Policing Bicycle Behavior— Scott Walker will invite Interim Police Chief Michael Evans to a
future meeting to discuss policing options.
Trails Grant— Debbie Jahnke informed the Board that the City's grant proposal for the tracked
mini hauler was not funded has been designated as an alternate to be reviewed again if more
funds become available.
Trail Projects —The next project will be held on October 17 at the Grant Street Trail. Work on
the trail bordering the Choate property will occur on November 21.
Map Project—The map project has been put on hold for 3 months until David McCulloch is
available. David Peterson confirmed that funding has been budgeted for the project.
Potential Trail Recon —The Board will individually inspect trail options from Howard Street to
the Larry Scott trail and on Chestnut Street between P and Q Streets.
Downtown Bike Lanes —Scott Walker will draft a letter to Council recommending bike lanes be
installed downtown.
Next Meeting -The next regularly scheduled meeting will be on September 3, 2015.
Adjourn -The meeting adjourned at 5:30 p.m.
