HomeMy WebLinkAbout071415 Minutes LODGING TAX ADVISORY COMMITTEE SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES DATE: July 14, 2015 START TIME: 3:00 p.m. LOCATION: City Hall, Conference Room 3 VOTING MEMBERS PRESENT: Michelle Sandoval (Chair), Robert Birman, Nathan Barnett, Will O'Donnell, Denise Winter, Sherri Hanke NON-VOTING MEMBERS PRESENT: Teresa Verraes, Mari Mullen MEMBER(S) EXCUSED: Janette Force, Dave Robison, Cindy Hill Finnie, William Roney OTHERS PRESENT: City Manager David Timmons, Marketing Director Christina Pivarnik, Deputy City Clerk Joshua Stecker GUESTS: Todd Gubler Topic Motions/Recommendation/Action Approval of Minutes: January 13, 2015 Unanimously approved. David Timmons gave an overview of proposed signage upgrades for the new Visitor The Committee unanimously moved to Information Center. The funding for the signage will come from the center's unused rent recommend to Council expenditure of$26,000 and technology budgets, but additional funds are needed. He also reported that lodging for Visitor Information Center signage. tax budget goals are being met and exceeded. He noted that drought conditions could impact tourism later in the summer or early fall. New recycling bins will be installed downtown and existing garbage cans will be cleaned more often. Todd Gubler reported increased lodging occupancy at Fort Worden along with several successful events. Will O'Donnell reported market sales up by 20%. Nathan Barnett reported strong lodging numbers and attendance at this year's Steampunk Festival. Sherri Hanke reported on a new charter service available from Puget Sound Express, leaving from Edmonds for groups up to 61 people. Rob Birman reported that five new 12-passenger vans will be available for use in October. Mari Mullen gave an update on the Tyler Street end moveable parklet project and other Main Street events.
