Even numbered addresses are only allowed to water on even numbered days and odd numbered addresses may only water on odd numbered days. Drought Response Plan details are available at https://weblink.cityofpt.us/weblink/0/doc/118749/Page1.aspx. Stream flows are still very low and Stage 1 water use restrictions will remain in place until stream flows are sufficient to refill Lords Lake. City water use averaged 891,703 gallons per day over the past seven days, 14,297 gallons less than the previous week. Lords Lake was at 18’ 5”’ today, with approximately 250 million gallons remaining in the reservoir, and river diversions were supplying 1.3 million gallons of water. The paper mill reduced consumption this week as part of a scheduled maintenance period and City water use has continued to decrease, which slowed the drawdown of Lord Lake. Water conservation tip of the week: Two to four inches of mulch can substantially retain soil moisture, slow evaporation, and protect roots from overheating. Mulch can reduce or eliminate weeds that compete with plants for moisture, nutrients, and sunlight. Organic mulches are good choices because they retain moisture and add nutrients to the soil as they decompose.
