HomeMy WebLinkAbout2015-09-05 Amended Burn Ban EAST d EFFERSON FIRE RESCUE 00 24 Seton Rd.,Port Townsend,WA 98368 360.385.2626 September 4, 2015 SERVING THE JEFFERSON COUNTY BURN BAN COMMUNITIES OF: AMENDED EFFECTIVE - Saturday September 5, 2015 Port Townsend The current burn ban in effect for all of Jefferson County will be amended effective Port Hadlock Saturday Septembers, 2015 based on recommendations of the Washington State Department of Natural Recourse. Recreational camp fires and the use of charcoal briquettes will be approved for use. Chimacum As of midnight, September 4, 2015 Commissioner Peter Goldmark of the Department of Irondale Natural Resources is expected to amend the current burn ban for Western Washington, lowering the burn ban standards which will allow camp fires and the use of charcoal briquettes. Kala Point Requirements for recreational fires are defined by the international fire code and the Cape George Washington State Administrative code (173-425-050). A recreational fire is defined as outdoor burning of charcoal or firewood where the fuel is not contained in an incinerator, out-door fire place, barbecue grill or barbecue pit. Recreational fires are for pleasure, Marrowstone Island religious, ceremonial, cooking, warmth or similar purposes, three (3) feet or less in diameter using charcoal or seasoned firewood that are in a designated area or on private property. Fires used for debris or rubbish disposal are not considered recreational fires and are illegal. The burn ban will continue to be in effect for all land clearing within Jefferson County, as recommended by the Washington State Department of Natural Resources, Jefferson County Board of Fire Chiefs and the Jefferson County Fire Marshal until September 30, 2015 or until further notice. All county-wide burning will continue to be subject to immediate closure of all fire at any time based on the DNR fire rating for fire danger or air stagnation conditions as determined by the Washington State Department of Ecology, the Olympic Region Clean Air Authority and/or the Department of Natural Recourses.
