RESOLUTION NO. 15-026
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND,
WASHINGTON, ACCEPTING DONATIONS FROM THE PORT TOWNSEND PUBLIC
LIBRARY FOUNDATION AND NAMING AREAS OF THE LIBRARY IN
RECOGNITION OF THE DONATIONS
WHEREAS, The Port Townsend Public Library Foundation("Foundation") has
continuously fulfilled its mission of soliciting donations for the benefit of the Library; and
WHEREAS, Section 3.42.050 of the Port Townsend Municipal Code requires donations in
excess of$25,000 to be accepted by the City Council; and
WHEREAS,as part of moving back to the Carnegie Library,the Foundation used a$25,000
pledge from Gale and David Wallis to purchase and install equipment,including an adjustable help
desk, and to name the desk"The Gale Help Desk in honor of Macle and Wesley Wallis;" and
WHEREAS, the Foundation also applied for and received a $33,000 grant from the Gray
Wolf Ranch to be used for technology improvements.This has two phases;first,a computer center in
the Carnegie Library to be named the "Gray Wolf Technology Center" and, second, technology
improvements in the large conference room in the Charles Pink House to allow for presentation,
programming, and technology training. The Foundation wishes to identify the area in the Carnegie
Library with a sign naming it the"Gray Wolf Computer Center"and to identify the conference room
in the Charles Pink House with a sign naming it the "Gray Wolf Technology Center;" and,
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that it is in the best interests of the City to
accept the donations as conditioned:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend as follow:
Section 1. The City accepts the generous donations from the Foundation,the Wallises, and
Gray Wolf Ranch as set forth in the Recitals.
Section 2. The information desk in the Carnegie Library is named the""The Gale Help Desk
in honor of Macle and Wesley Wallis."
Section 3.The computer area on the second floor of the Carnegie Library is named"The Gray
Wolf Computer Center," and the large conference room in the Charles Pink House is named"The
Gray Wolf Technology Center."
Section 4. These naming rights shall expire when the equipment purchased with the grant
funds has reached the end of its useful life and is surplused by the City. In that event, staff will

determine an appropriate way to memorialize the gift.
Section 5. The City Manager is authorized to take all administrative actions consistent with
this Resolution.
Section 6.All prior actions of staff consistent with this Resolution are ratified and confirmed.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend at a regular meeting
thereof, held this 20th day of July, 2015.
