Updated 7/10/15
Stream flows, less than a third of normal for this time of the year, held steady this past week and
continue to postpone the need to start drawing from Lords Lake. Municipal consumption for the
past seven days has averaged 1.61 million gallons per day, a decrease of approximately 32,000
gallons per day from the seven days prior.
Water conservation tip of the week:
Toilets are usually the largest single use of water inside the home. Estimates of use range from
28 percent to almost 40 percent of total indoor use. Federal and state water efficiency rules
have standardized flush volumes at a maximum of 1.6 gallons per flush (gpf) for all new toilets.
If you have a toilet that was installed before 1994 it is likely using 3.5 or more gpf. Replacing
the toilet could save enough water to pay for itself in a few years.
