Subject: Amendment to PT Comprehensive Plan (July 1996)
Judy: Please let me know if I need to submit the following amendment to someone else for
consideration. jim todd
Amendment to the Port Townsend (PT) Comprehensive Plan (PTCP, July 1996) 29 May
2015
Transportation Element, Goal 5, Policy "5.25": Since the senior citizen population of PT is
increasing and walking is not only an excellent form of exercise but also the least polluting
mode of transportation, it is imperative that safe conditions for pedestrian activity be the
primary concern of transportation planning.
PC-4
PT city council should enact an ordinance that would: (1) Implement the concept of city-wide,
vehicle-free sidewalks for pedestrian use only as expressed in the Transportation Element of
the July 1996 PTCP \[Chapter 6, Goal 5, policies 5.3 (a,f), 5.13 (a), 5.24(b) \] and in the
Pedestrian Element of the Non-Motorized Transportation Plan \[8 Dec 2014 edition
(ordinances 2643, 3056, 3119); pg. 27--30, 42, 43\].
(2) Address the problem of speeding vehicles near pedestrians on multi-use paths.
